MUTCD Specifications
The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) defines the standards used by road managers nationwide to install and maintain traffic control devices on all streets and highways. The MUTCD is published by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under 23 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 655, Subpart F.
SHS Specifications
The FINAL versions of the Metric and English Standard Highway Signs Book 2004 Edition are now available online. The Standard Highway Signs Book 2004 Edition is a companion document to the 2003 Edition of the MUTCD, including Revision 1. However, the Standard Highway Signs Book contains some frequently-used designs that are not found in the MUTCD.
